with the young voters and their growing apparent disapproval of the bristol-mye obama administration and the president himself. do you think, those that a larger part of their disenchantment with this particular president has to do with the fact when they get out of college they won't be able to afford a cell phone because there will be no job for them, because the economic landscape is so bleak for them? >> sure. i totally think that. that's very accurate. you know the thing is one time where the white house was doing well politically this past year was during the government shutdown. it's a weird way to say you're doing well when the entire government stops. i think young voters and i don't speak for young voters obviously, happen to be the youngest on this panel but young voters have been through a lot in the past four years with respect to the economy and job prospects and student debt which is a huge issue and they look at the landscape and say who has anything to offer -- what are people offering me. they look at obama and say you haven't done a great job. but then they look at
website and claims from the obama administration the site is now working for a majority of americans, a nasty surprise may be in store for some of those americans trying to get insurance. turns out a long list of till unresolved problems means some people who thought they signed up for insurance may not actually be covered come january 1st. joining me monica crowley, fox news contributor, to talk about the political impact of all of this. you know the website issue was very visible, right? you try to log on, you can't do it. this is a different type of problem. it is not as easily seen and it is delayed. so how big of an impact is it going to be if it does happen? >> when the website launched on october 1st there were two huge problems we knew about. i'm sure there were more problems we didn't know about but two big ones we knew about right away. the first was the front end, what the consumer saw. they couldn't even log on. there was a lot of frustration people said i would like to get into the exchanges, i can't even log on, i'm being timed out, i'm losing my information. they said
john cornyn accused the obama administration of lying on a number of issues including the benghazi raid and obama care. >> i think the current administration has taken lying to a new level. the willingness to mislead people or provide them just demonstrably false information and expect to move on. we've seen that most recently in the health care debate over if you like what you have you can keep it. something we can go back to 2010 and demonstrate that the department of health and human services knew was false. >> jim, he's running for re-election next year. >> is that an excuse. >> a lot of democrats running in the south and i think you guys have the story on this, a lot of democratic senators running in the south next year are hearing that over and over again and will have a receptive audience. what cornyn said a lot of swing voters in the south believe. >> if i'm in the south and a democrat i'm worried about the ramifications of obama care. that's what they are picking up in their andy poling. you see these democrats who felt safe a month ago who feel they can lose. we were talking e
? >> they do not like this at all. the obama administration, however, may like it, i think. president obama has already indicated that he will be proposal certain reforms to these processes and has a review panel going over them with a report due by the end of the year. so it's possible some of these ideas will line up with president obama's own reforms which may be resisted by his intelligence community. >> when it's resisted by the intelligence community, i guess that takes us to whatever the next crisis is, whoever wants to predict that. but does this drift away given the next security crisis for the nation? >> no question that if there were another attack, and these practices were faulted, that would be a disaster. and all efforts to reform them would then stop. and what this letter essentially is arguing is that the economic benefits to the u.s. economy and to these companies outweigh the reduction in risk that arises from these surveillance practices. that's a very controversial point. they're good arguments on both sides of it. and it is in a way the crux of the matter. >> what i found i
, at least potentially. jim sciutto is watching what's going on. i know the obama administration is very concerned what these members of the senate are planning on doing. >> no question. this puts congress on a direct collision course with the white house. as you know, they have been lobbying hard, the administration has been lobbying hard against it, secretary kerry, including sending a video message over the holidays arguing against sanctions, saying that will in effect scuttle this deal. what we're seeing now, that intense lobbying campaign appears to have fallen on deaf ears, even among members of the president's own party. with the ink barely dry on the historic nuclear deal with iran, today the iranian foreign minister pronounced it dead if congress passes more economic sanctions. the entire deal is dead, he told "time" magazine. we do not like to negotiate under duress. even so, sources tell cnn republican and democratic senators are close to doing exactly that, nearing agreement on a bill to impose new sanctions within six months unless iran ships all stockpiles of enriched urani

of state kerry says the obama administration still is trying to secure gross' release. >> we are currently engaged in some discussions regarding that which i'm not at liberty to go into in any kind of detail. but the bottom line is that we have raised these issues. >> reporter: former president bill clinton tells cnn gross' imprisonment is halting improvement in relations with cuba. >> you can't expect us to do much more now unless there's some resolution of some of these human rights issues. >> now, the state department says that u.s. officials visit alan gross monthly. they say the last visit was november 27th. next one that they're asking for is december 26th. and they insist that he remains a top priority and they're working it diplomatically. wolf? >> jill dougherty with that back ground. thanks, jill, very much. joining us is judy gross, the wife of alan gross. judy, thanks very much for coming. >> thanks for having any. >> four years. how emotional is this for you? four years, your husband being held in cuba. >> it's emotional. it's very -- causes me a lot of anger i would have to s
to obama care. the administration it appears now knew more and more and more from the federal register in fact mid range estimates show that 76% of small group plans would be cancelled. 55% of large employer plans would be 63% in all. what do you make of this. >> jim engel has been getting into the weeds of this. this is from the federal register. this is their projections of the total 157 million employer policies set to be cancelled next year of the 157 million, next year according to the projections, you had the mid range estimates 76% of the small group, 55% of the large employer plans and overall 63%. these are the administration's own projections back in 2010 for 2014. if anyone says that they didn't know this was going to happen or that this was a mistake that you could keep your plan and everyone would have the same doctor and plan. call they would have to do is look at the administration themselves. >> they tried to bring a bill to the senate and grand father in the bill. we will be watching tonight at 6:00 eastern time. thank you so much. we want to hear from you. send us you
with the obama care website. also spoke about the perception of his management within his own administration. >> when it comes to the management of government, part of the reason people are so skeptical is that when we do things right they don't get a lot of attention. if we do something that is perceived at least initially as a screw up, it will be on the "nightly news" for a week. i remember bob gates, my former secretary of defense, wonderful public servant, had served under seven presidents, when i first came in i asked him so, bob, you got nyad vice for me. he said, mr. president, just understand you got a lot of people working for you. somebody somewhere is screwing something up. that's true. [ laughter ] so i have to consistently push on every cabinet secretary on every single agency how can we do things better and we can do things better. >> john meacham what is your take on his perspective on his own administration. >> i think it's realistic. president kennedy said defeat is an orphan and victory has a thousand fathers. that's true whether it's a government agency or private institu
story, 10%, pennies. somebody said roots sister might be a weather vain. could be. obama administration in hot water they did not tell the truth about the president's undocumented uncle. what did they say? that's next. every day we're working to be an even better company - and to keep our commitments. and we've made a big commitment to america. bp supports nearly 250,000 jobs here. through all of our energy operations, we invt more in the u.s. than any other place in the wor. in fact, we've invested over $55 billion here in the last five years making bp america's largest energy investor. our commitment has never been stronger. martha: all right, we start off with this fox news alert, the white house changing its tune on president obama's relationship with his uncle who now faces deportation. welcome, everybody, to a brand new hour of "america's newsroom" on a friday. i'm martha maccallum. bill: i'm bill hemmer. the president's relationship with his uncle getting new attention after he was granted permission to remain here in the united states. martha: so the administration said unequivo
